This CD is broken down into eight separate documents, each of which is designed to teach you a different aspect of Heavy Equipment operation.
The first document is a seven page guide to ways to prevent yourself and other from being hurt by carbon monoxide poisoning. First there is an overall explanation of carbon monoxide poisoning. Next ways to control carbon monoxide are discussed. Then there is an explanation of how to evaluate the severity of any exposure.
The second document is a 49 page Crawler/Loader Safety Manual broken down into nine easy to read chapters. The first chapter explains that every employer must have a safety program and offers tips to find out what program is in place. Chapter two explains that you can work safer by understanding the equipment, having a familiarity with the area and knowing traffic rules. Chapter three outlines what to do before starting your equipment including making sure it is ready Knowing if the surrounding area is safe and warning personnel of any possible dangers! Chapter four you get advice on what to do when starting your machine. Chapter five details operation checks once you have started and Chapter Six goes into how to stop your machine at the end of the day. Chapter Seven has more safety guidelines including shifting, speeding, operating on slopes, carrying loads, dangerous areas, hazardous operations, and safe operating habits. Chapter eight talks about maintenance including servicing precautions, adjusting prec autions and precautions during repair. The Final chapter offers tips on safely loading and unloading the tractor.
The third document was prepared by the Army and offers sixty rules for safe operation of power cranes and excavators. We are not going to give them all away, but here is a brief sample:

The fourth document is a 50 page Safety Guide For Wheel Type Loaders. This guide begins with your “safety homework” and takes you step-by-step through your working day with safety in mind. The final chapter covers safety in maintenance operations which you might perform. Chapter One tells you to know your safety program your equipment and your work area. Chapter two explains how to complete your pre-operating check. Chapter three is an overview on general work safety procedures. Chapter Four shows you how to select a safe parking place shut down properly, watch your step when getting off your machine and make sure your machine is safe to leave. The final chapter discusses maintenance issues.
The Motor Grader Safety Manual, the fifth document, is 49 pages long and very similar to the Guide For Wheel Type Loaders and the guide to Crawler/Loaders. It is 49 pages long and has the same basic sections as the other two manuals. There is an addition section dedicated to tire safety.
The sixth document is a seven page government issue guide to Safe Working Near Power Lines. It tells you how far you need to be from live electric lines and includes a free metric conversion kit.
Document seven is a 36 page technical bulletin on the Safe Use Of Lifting Devices. It explains the most up to date government regulations regarding Requirements, Responsibilities and Procedures.
The final document is the Safety And Hazard Warnings For The Operation And Maintenance Of TACOM Equipment. At 54 pages long it is explains everything you could need to know! The first section discuses carbon monoxide gas. Next we move onto safe fuel handling. The third section deals with lasers. Section four is concerned with exposure to noise. Radiation and possible radiation poisoning is the subject of Section five. Finally the guide discusses dangers when painting.
